The Kāhuli Aloha Shirt celebrates the beauty and rich diversity of Hawaiian land snails. With a slightly tailored take on a classic aloha shirt, this handcrafted piece is the perfect shirt to liven up any occasion.
Kāhuli (Hawaiian land snails) are some of the rarest creatures on Earth. Once common throughout the Hawaiian Islands, less than half of the original 750+ species remain today. This print aims to raise awareness of kāhuli and advocate for their protection. Made in collaboration with artist Kim Sielbeck, this print showcases nine endemic species that each represent their home island(s): Hiona pilsbryi (Kauaʻi), Laminella sanguinea (Oʻahu), Lyropupa striatula (Maui), Succinea konaensis (Hawaiʻi), Newcombia canaliculata (Molokaʻi), Partulina variabilis (Lānaʻi), Carelia sinclairi (Niʻihau), Pleuropoma laciniosa kahoolawensis (Kahoʻolawe), and Endodonta christenseni (Northwestern Hawaiian Islands).

This is a really well designed shirt and the artwork is top notch. The colors are vivid and the material feels great. The packaging is also very well done, I was expecting the shirt to come in a large tyvek envelope and the shirt wadding up in the shipping process, but no this shirt was neatly folded and placed in a small box that fits neatly in a mailbox. I'll be wearing this shirt to the next shell club meeting and I'm looking forward to purchasing the nā pūpū kuahiwi tee in the near future.
