ʻĀkala (Rubus hawaiensis) is a native Hawaiian raspberry that grows in mesic to wet forests. The tasty large fruits are a popular food for many Hawaiian birds, and were historically used to dye kapa. The name ʻākala referes to the pink color of fruitʻs juice.
