Made in Hawaiʻi, this dress celebrates the beautiful diversity of Hawaiian honeycreepers.

Made from lightweight and breathable rayon, the soft and airy fabric makes for comfortable, all-day wear. This dress makes a fun and unique wardrobe staple.

Hawaiian honeycreepers once flourished throughout the Hawaiian Islands, with over 50 remarkable species. Many of these honeycreeper species are now extinct or endangered due to threats like climate change, habitat loss, and invasive species. These overalls are a tribute to these incredible birds, and a reminder that we must act now to protect Hawaiʻi's native species before it's too late. Let's work together to ensure that future generations can enjoy the magnificence of these truly special birds that are staples of culture and native ecosystems.

Story behind the design

"When I first started working in avian conservation on Kauaʻi in 2016, I would spend my down time thumbing through H. Douglas Pratt's iconic book The Hawaiian Honeycreepers (Oxford University Press, 2005). I was endlessly amazed by the beauty and diversity of all these birds that once thrived throughout Hawaiʻi but had virtually disappeared today. H. Douglas Pratt's paintings brilliantly depicted the extinct honeycreeper species in such a way that made it easier to imagine them fluttering across the forest canopy, feeding on the native plants that they developed symbiotic relationships with. These paintings have had such a marked impact on my life, so in 2022 I decided to reach out to H. Douglas Pratt with hopes of finding ways to inspire others with his unmatched artwork. This was monumental, as H. Douglas Pratt has been making positive impacts on Hawaiian honeycreeper conservation for nearly 50 years. He was one of the last people to see a handful of extinct Hawaiian birds, like the ʻōʻū and Kauaʻi ʻōʻō. His story galvanizes the push to protect the Hawaiian honeycreepers that are still holding on today."
