ʻAkekeʻe are a critically endangered Hawaiian honeycreeper. They are endemic to the forests of Kauaʻi, restricted to high-elevation areas. Their assymetrical bill allows them to extract insects that live within ʻōhiʻa leaves and flower buds. ʻAkekeʻe are known to sing a high pitched trill or “whisper song” that can be heard especially during foggy weather.

Please bring back the Kokio Kea pin and Maui Parrot Bill pin! My favorite Hawaiian hibiscus is the kokio kea and I would love to add the parrotbill to my honeycreeper pin collection! Thank you mahalo!
I love that the name of the bird is on the back of the pin. 😍
