Several million years ago, Hawaiian honeycreepers diverged to fill a variety of ecological niches, a process called adaptive radiation. Some species adapted to feed on nectar, while others adapted to feed on insects or seeds. This led to extraordinary diversity that is unmatched in any other group of birds. Sadly, about 70% of honeycreeper species have gone extinct, largely due to habitat loss and invasive species. To save the remaining honeycreepers, we must spread awareness and collectively support conservation efforts.

I absolutely love this blanket!! I purchased this as a christmas gift for my sister who is a Volcanologist in Hawaii. My only hang up is that I had to fix the weave on one spot in the blanket. Whoever was the carrier completely destroyed my package in transit to the point where the entire packaging was ripped open and there was nothing left of the wrapping the blanket essentially was just exposed and left in my mailbox.
This throw is beautiful enough to frame. Makes me smile every time I look at the honeycreepers. Highly recommend it for birders of all levels.
It is like having these beautiful, heavenly creatures sharing their warmth and soft feathers around you .
